George Garford | Saxophonist / Composer / Improviser

George is a saxophonist, composer and improviser active in the UK's intersecting contemporary jazz & improvised music scenes.

George leads ideasthesia, a contemporary jazz quintet that explores his original compositions. He also writes & plays with the post-fusion group dreamscapes & co-leads free-improvising quartet let forever be delayed.

Currently, George co-curates monthly cult improvised music club ~ the pool ~ with lap steel guitarist John Bisset in Stoke Newington.

Hailing from Cambridgeshire, UK and based in London since 2017, George has established himself as a prolific collaborator and sideman. 

Known for his distinct alto sound, George's unique sensibility and personal sound compliments a variety of ensembles and projects.

He can regularly be heard playing a diversity of music(s) around the UK, at venues including The Vortex, Cafe OTO, The Jazz Cafe Camden, Birmingham Symphony Hall and Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club
